CIS Supplier to Crossrail
Passenger information display specialist Infotec has been awarded the contract to design and manufacture TFT displays for nine stations on the central section of Crossrail.
Passenger information display specialist Infotec has been awarded the contract to design and manufacture TFT displays for nine stations on the central section of Crossrail, a huge investment project involving 42Km of new tunnels under London and one of the largest infrastructure ventures in Europe.
Around 200 million passengers will travel on Crossrail each year and the route will provide a 10% increase to rail capacity in the capital. The Crossrail work has been awarded to Infotec by fellow Ashby-based Siemens who are responsible for the Crossrail Control and Communications Contract. Critical to the design of the stations has been ensuring features within them provide the best possible services for passengers with visual and hearing impairments and Infotec’s products will assist with this. The station designers have decided to locate the Infotec next train information (NTI) displays above the platform edge doors to make them easier for passengers to read, rather than having to look along 250m platforms.
Infotec managing Director Tim Court says: “Crossrail is a highly prestigious project for the UK and we are pleased and proud to be involved in it. Our products will meet the demanding needs of both the travelling public and the system operators. ”Commissioning of the overall line is scheduled for the end of 2018. Infotec’s products and services are in use across the UK capital at locations including Euston, King’s Cross, London Bridge, St Pancras and at dozens of London Underground stations.
