Infotec's train loading and formation innovation improves customer journey
Following the success with passengers in showing train loading and formation information on passenger information displays at Euston station in London, Infotec has been commissioned to produce further train loading graphics for First Great Western and Virgin East Coast.
This latest innovation provides passengers who have not pre-booked seats with a quick and easily understood pictorial representation of where seats have been reserved on the train and so guides them to the carriages with seat availability. The ability to show disabled access, cycle storage, facilities and coach lettering adds to this functionality.
Most passengers look at the passenger information displays on the concourses and platforms and it is anticipated that Infotec’s innovation of train-loading pictograms will become a common sight and a widely used tool to help travellers find seats more quickly on trains.
The newly installed Infotec TFT displays on London’s Thameslink stations will shortly use pictograms to show train formation details to help passengers determine the best place to stand on the platform whilst waiting for the train to arrive. This will reduce train dwell times at the platform and ultimately results in passengers arriving at their destinations sooner.
Infotec has taken this concept further in a display trial at Virgin’s training facility, where the company has fitted LED displays to the doors of Pendolino train carriages, to reassure passengers that they boarding the correct train and where there are unreserved seats available.
