New equipment for Infotec HQ
On-going investment by passenger information specialist Infotec to ensure it continues to meet demand and reduce production times has seen the Ashby-based company purchase a new flexible placement platform for its production department.
Scheduled for installation in December, the Fuji-built equipment will dramatically increase capacity on the surface-mount technology (SMT) assembly line, helping the company to scale up production as and when necessary.
Initially, the new machine will be used for chip-shooting LEDs and is intended to supplement Infotec’s in-house equipment rather than replace it.
The modular aspect of the Fuji unit is considered key in providing the company with the option to expand its output to meet future demands. With orders for train, bus, tram and on-vehicle displays continuing to be won, Infotec is ensuring it is equipped to cope.
Recent contracts fulfilled include a new main board, satellite lounge and platform entrance displays for Manchester Piccadilly, platform, escalator and lift displays for London Bridge station and platform displays for dozens of smaller Scottish stations.
