Wide range of technologies for EMR
More than 200 displays have been designed and manufactured for East Midlands Railway (EMR), all helping to enhance the customer experience in stations.
Infotec has completed several projects for East Midlands Railway (EMR) that have seen touch-screen interactive passenger information display units and high contrast TFT mainboards among a wide variety of units provided.
The new displays are all designed to provide travel information in formats that are easy to read and to understand, enhancing the customer experience and improving passenger flow within the stations.
The work has seen design and manufacture of more than 200 displays for stations including Chesterfield, Derby, Loughborough, Nottingham, and Sheffield.
Full-matrix LED, indoor and outdoor specification TFT, the touch screen interactive units as well as the steelwork and communication hubs that support them are all included in the EMR projects.
Both Nottingham and Derby have seen new mainboards installed, replacing the original LED displays with Infotec’s latest TFT technology with the units benefitting from the TX Series’ optically bonded, high contrast and sunlight readable panels.
The majority of the installations have managed to re-use the existing steelwork, keeping costs and installation time down and reducing the environmental impact.
Whilst most of the displays make use of the existing power and data cabling, some have been connected over the GSM network using Infotec’s Javelin CMS system.
These installations represent third visits for Infotec to many of these stations, with the first displays being installed more than 20 years ago when they were operated by Midland Mainline. The last four of the original 2003 displays have only been replaced in the past year, evidencing the high quality and longevity of the goods supplied.
