Virgin Pendolino display trials for Angel Trains
Infotec Limited has installed a suite of state-of-the-art passenger information displays on a static Pendolino train at Virgin’s training centre in Crewe.
The purpose of this trial is to demonstrate a range of options to enhance the train passenger’s experience and reduce the anxiety some customers have in finding a vacant seat when first boarding. With input from Virgin Trains, Angel Trains, and consultants Seymour Powell, Infotec designed, manufactured and installed four types of passenger information display to fit in with the existing layout of the train.
Drawing on its 25 years of experience of designing and manufacturing passenger information displays for the on-station and on-train environment, Leicestershire-based Infotec chose a combination of LED and TFT technologies from its Tetrus range to create displays that are legible in all lighting conditions, offer 24/7 operation and many years of in-service life in a demanding on train environment.
It is hoped adoption of the new displays will be included by potential bidders in the forthcoming InterCity West Coast Franchise.
