Infotec to feature in quality standard video

The all-round attention paid to quality by Infotec is to be used as the basis for a short film being produced as a case study for the new ISO 9001:2015 quality standard.

Having become one of the first suppliers in the rail industry to successfully achieve certification to ISO 9001:2015 through Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), Infotec has been invited to help publicise what is needed to achieve the standard.

The footage is to be used by LRQA at its LRQA Live 2016 roadshows from October through to December in locations around the UK including Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds and London.

Quality is of paramount importance to passenger information display specialist Infotec. Every display the company supplies is subject to a routine endurance test for extended operation. Test and quality control (QC) staff keep products moving through QC and final verification.

During busy periods the test department is open late to get endurance tests started, early to get product inspected ready for shipment after overnight testing and weekend working also helps to ensure the whole end-to-end manufacturing process runs smoothly to delivery.

Excellent results from these quality-based activities also ensure Infotec has great confidence in long field reliability of its products.

The revised ISO 9001:2015 standard was published in September last year and although certified companies have until September 2018 to migrate to this version, Infotec was keen to become an early adopter, emphasising its commitment to continually improving its products and services.

A four-day re-certification surveillance at the company’s headquarters in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire was conducted by LRQA in June. This included a successful transition of the Quality Management System to the revised version.

Filming is taking place in Ashby on September 20 and will include interviews with Operations Director Lizz Court, Quality Assurance Manager Alan Reilly as well as footage of testing in progress.

Commenting on the filming, Lizz Court said: “We were very proud to be at the forefront in the transition to ISO 9001: 2015 and to be invited to show others how we have done that is an honour. It underlines the fact that quality management and performance are very much part of Infotec’s culture, at every level, and we look forward to seeing the film.”
