Virgin West Coast TFTs installed

Virgin Trains West Coast Mainline stations including Coventry, Crewe, Lancaster, Penrith, Rugby, Stafford and Warrington Bank Quay have been fitted with new TFT passenger information displays designed and manufactured by Infotec.

More than 100 of the displays supplied are new P3025-A TFTs, 19” landscape units with a modular design for ease of maintenance and rugged housing to provide a vandal-resistant finish.

In addition to these, Infotec has also supplied some ruggedised 32” displays as well as dozens of TS Series semi-ruggedised 32” displays for less challenging environments.

The TS range offers a more cost-effective solution where environmental conditions are less of an issue and lower IP ratings are acceptable.

All of the displays are driven by Infotec’s next generation controller Tetrus. Unlike PC-based displays, with Tetrus there are no unnecessary features that might one day cause systems to crash, restart or, worse still, to pick up a virus from the Internet.  Use of Tetrus also means the system will not “go looking” for a software update on the Internet.

The clean, sharp transition of information made possible by Tetrus will meet the expectations of customers who in their everyday lives are accustomed to high definition television and to using hand-held devices with smooth scrolling and page transitions. The Tetrus controller is unrivalled when it comes to overall flexibility and cost of ownership.

Commenting on the work, Infotec’s Head of UK Sales Diane Cooper said: “The Virgin West Coast order, awarded to Infotec by Telent Ltd., has met all of the customer needs and expectations and will improve the passenger experience on the stations concerned. Everyone involved is very pleased with the end results.”
