New design for Bank station

A new small format display has been purpose-designed by Infotec to meet an order from London Underground Limited (LUL) for Bank Station.

New design for Bank station

The P1042m (mini-VID32) is a new, cost-effective ultra-bright LED display for use as a Next Train Indicator (NTI). It has been designed to ensure that the New Johnston font can be deployed in keeping with LUL design ethos.  The P1042m is one of a range of LUL specific displays that includes larger P1042, P1038 & P1037 platform indicators as well as P1045 ticket hall displays. This compact design enables the New Johnston font to be used at a wider variety of sites where space is an issue, particularly at smaller stations with narrower platforms.

All designs have been produced to meet the rigorous sub-surface standards demanded by LUL. The modular design of the P1042 makes for ease of maintenance and the monitoring, script adjustment and firmware upgrades can all be carried out remotely. The rugged housing designed by Infotec has a vandal resistant finish and tamper switches are included as standard. LUL is undertaking a major capital project to expand Bank underground station.

The £multi-million scheme is designed to increase the number of passengers that can travel through the station at peak times, alleviating the impact of forecast passenger growth. These passengers will now all benefit from information about services from Infotec displays. Infotec first installed subsurface passenger information displays on London’s Northern City Line at stations including Moorgate, Essex Road and Highbury & Islington.

These were the first subsurface designs from Infotec produced over 12 years ago and most of these are still in service today with additional units provided more recently. Infotec’s largest underground project to date was to provide 72 stations with CIS for the Tubelines project. This gave rise to our Section 12 compliant VID type 24 and 32 displays, scores of which are now deployed across the London Underground network. In addition to subsurface projects for the London Underground, others for which Infotec has supplied Section 12 compliant products include Glasgow Subway, Birmingham New Street, Linea 12 in Mexico City, the Thameslink renewals project and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) Line 1 Urban Railway.
